## Trading Fee

The trading fee for opening or closing a position consists of a **Base Fee** and an **Impact Fee**. Fees may vary depending on the **market** and **collateral type**.

*Trading Fee = Position Size \* (Base Fee % + Impact Fee %)*

Coin Collateral

- Base Fee = 0.03%\~0.75%
- Impact Fee = 0.03%\~0.75%

Option Collateral

- Base Fee = 0.01%\~0.05%
- Impact Fee = 0%

### Base Fee

A fixed % of the position size is charged as a base fee when opening, closing, or partially closing a position.

### Impact Fee

On Typus Perps, large orders don’t move token prices because pricing is oracle-based. Instead, we apply an impact fee to reflect the true cost of trading - based on order size, collateral liquidity, and market volatility.

This fee structure ensures fairness for both traders and liquidity providers:

- Trades that improve open interest balance incur lower fees.
- Trades that skew the balance face higher fees.
- Splitting large trades doesn’t reduce the total fee.

Impact fee parameters may be adjusted over time to reflect evolving market conditions, ensuring sustainable liquidity and a balanced trading environment.

### Calculate Trading Fee

- *LP Net Exposure (before trade) = User Short Position Size - User Long Position Size*
- *LP Net Exposure (after trade)*
  - If the new order is long
    - *LP Net Exposure (after trade) = LP Net Exposure (before trade) - Order Size*
  - If the new order is short
    - *LP Net Exposure (after trade) = LP Net Exposure (before trade) + Order Size*
- *Exposure Change = | LP Net Exposure (after trade) | - | LP Net Exposure (before trade) |*

![](https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/o745XevrkpBm4jckBAJrj_image.png)

- ***x = Order Value Ratio**** = ( Exposure Change × Underlying Price) / ( Total Collateral Liquidity \* Allocated LP Exposure % )*
- ***s = Scale*****:** Adjusts how much volume the pool can handle before hitting the fee ceiling.
- ***c = Curvature*****:** Controls the aggressiveness of the fee increase. High curvature keeps fees low for most users while penalizing massive trades that strain liquidity.
- *Max Fee % = Base Fee % + Max Impact Fee %*
- *Trading Fee = Position Size \* Trading Fee %*

### Trading Fee Example

Let’s walk through how the Trading Fee is calculated under this market conditions for SUI/USD:

- Underlying Price (SUI) = $3.5
- User Long Position Size = 25,000 SUI
- User Short Position Size = 10,000 SUI
- Base Fee = 0.10%
- Max Impact Fee = 0.10%
- Max Fee = 0.20%
- Allocated LP Exposure = 20%
- Total Collateral Liquidity = 35,000 USDC
- Collateral Price (USDC) = $1
- Curvature = 3
- Scale = 1

Step-by-step fee calculation

Case 1：A trader opens a 2,500 SUI long position using USDC as collateral.

- LP Net Exposure (before trade) = 10,000 SUI - 25,000 SUI = -15,000 SUI
- LP Net Exposure (after trade) = -15,000 SUI - 2,500 SUI = -17,500 SUI
- Exposure Change = 17,500 SUI - 15,000 SUI = 2,500 SUI
- Order Value Ratio = ( 2,500 SUI \* $3.5 ) / ( 35,000 USDC \* $1 \* 20% ) = 1.25
- Trading Fee % = 0.2%
- Trading Fee = 2,500 SUI \* $3.5 \* 0.2% = $17.5

Case 2：A trader opens a 1,000 SUI long position using USDC as collateral.

- LP Net Exposure (before trade) = -15,000 SUI
- LP Net Exposure (after trade) = -15,000 SUI - 1,000 SUI = -16,000 SUI
- Exposure Change = 16,000 SUI - 15,000 SUI = 1,000 SUI
- Order Value Ratio = ( 1,000 SUI \* $3.5 ) / ( 35,000 USDC \* $1 \* 20% ) = 0.5
- Trading Fee % = min \[ 0.1% + 0.05% , 0.2% ] = 0.1125%
- Trading Fee = 1,000 SUI \* $3.5 \* 0.1125% = $3.9375

Case 3：A trader opens a 1,000 SUI short position using USDC as collateral.

- LP Net Exposure (before trade) = -15,000 SUI
- LP Net Exposure (after trade) = -15,000 SUI + 1,000 SUI = -14,000 SUI
- Exposure Change = 14,000 SUI - 15,000 SUI = -1,000 SUI
- Order Value Ratio = ( -1,000 SUI \* $3.5 ) / ( 35,000 USDC \* $1 \* 20% ) = -0.5
- Trading Fee % = 0.1%
- Trading Fee = 1,000 SUI \* $3.5 \* 0.1% = $3.5

In the scenario above, the impact fee mechanism incentivizes traders to open short positions, which help restore balance to open interest. Conversely, long positions incur a higher impact fee as they further increase the existing imbalance.

## Funding Fee

Funding fees can be positive or negative while a position is open. The funding rate fluctuates over time based on the long-to-short balance. It is applied when an order is executed, or collateral is modified.

*Funding Index = Basic Funding Rate \* ( Net Position in USD / Total Tokens in the TLP )*

*Funding Fee = Difference between your entry index and the current funding index \* Position Size*

The Basic Funding Rate is at 0.068% for all perpetual markets.

When long open interest exceeds short open interest, the funding rate paid by longs to shorts will gradually increase until the gap between long and short positions falls below a set threshold.

Conversely, if short open interest surpasses long open interest, the funding rate will adjust in the opposite direction, with shorts paying longs at a gradually increasing rate until the imbalance is reduced below the threshold.

## Borrow Fee

The Borrow Fee accrues hourly on open positions and is deducted when an order is executed, or collateral is modified. This fee is paid to the counterparty of your trade, with the hourly rate fluctuating based on utilization and the amount borrowed.

*Hourly Borrow Fee = Hourly Borrow Rate \* Position Size*

| Utilization | Hourly Borrow Rate | Annually Borrow Rate |
| ----------- | ------------------ | -------------------- |
| 0% \~ 60% | 0% \~ 0.001% | 0% \~ 9% |
| 60% \~ 80% | 0.001% \~ 0.002% | 9% \~ 18% |
| 80% \~ 100% | 0.002% \~ 0.008% | 18% \~ 70% |

## Net Rate

*Net Rate = Funding Rate + Borrow Rate*

## Liquidation Fee

Upon liquidation, any remaining collateral after deducting losses and fees is distributed as follows:

- *Fee to Insurance Fund = 1% \* Position Size in USD*
- *Fee to TLP = Remaining Collateral - Fee to Insurance Fund*

## Swap Fee

The swap fee is 0.1% to 0.2% of the swap amount. The exact fee depends on whether the trade improves or reduces the target balance of the Typus Liquidity Pool.

## Mint or Burn TLP Fee

The mint or burn fee is 0.1% to 0.2% of the collateral amount. The exact fee depends on whether the trade improves or reduces the target balance of the Typus Liquidity Pool.

For leverage trading, refer to the sections below for more details.

# Open a Position

## Select a Market

Enter the [**Perps**](https://typus.finance/perps/) page, and choose a perpetual market you want to trade, such as **SUI/USD**, **BTC/USD**, or **SOL/USD**.

## Select a Position Side

Long Position:

- Earns profits if the token price goes up
- Makes losses if the token price goes down

Short Position:

- Earns profits if the token price goes down
- Makes losses if the token price goes up

## Select a Collateral Token

Various collateral tokens are available for your selected market, for example:

- Long SUI with SUI as collateral
- Long SUI with USDC as collateral
- Short SUI with SUI as collateral
- Short SUI with USDC as collateral

## Set Trade Parameters

Enter trade size and leverage (from 1x to 50x). Check order details and relevant [**fees**](https://docs.typus.finance/fees) before trading. While trades have no price impact, slippage may occur due to price changes between transaction submission and blockchain confirmation.

Order execution depends on available liquidity within the [**Typus Liquidity Pool (TLP)**](https://typus.finance/tlp).

# Manage Positions

You can monitor and adjust your open positions in the `POSITIONS` table. Click the “✏️" icon to deposit or withdraw collateral, allowing you to efficiently manage your leverage and liquidation price.

![](https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXeeWhOkj2JQn_4tVMLeml1qBrdWoDuIIZh9-Ee_TdQj2NuiGdv84CYfn_VfGR2q1oadq2RSduaA8aYj-fLssdcMbZpcByyAxVjC2rZxOc5fwKXrQUffG0QJVI-HpHMikCE7PWkp?key=XM3rMn4u_QGwCC1mhtcApQ)

*Leverage = Position Size in USD / Collateral in USD*

Profit and loss are proportionate to your position size. For instance: a long SUI position of 1,000 USD with a 10% SUI price increase earns a profit of 100 USD, while a 10% decrease results in a 100 USD loss. Conversely, a short position with a 10% SUI price decrease garners a 100 USD profit, but a 10% increase makes a 100 USD loss.

# Close a Position

To partially or fully close a position, click the `CLOSE` button in the `POSITIONS` table.

- Closing a position realizes pending profits or losses (PnL) based on the proportion of the position closed.
- Realized PnL and fees are settled in the collateral used for that position.

![](https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXcHK-vGXk8lK6xw9VWZmKD1Ji65Ou9OiJjHU-hzw5a6wQ1CrVcqdSI_TqLfjYpRcQBpJ1ZCPeUrsDVtDF_7mtl6A9_7IEuizbj6jKPnp2DkDQjyxz1TXbu4Fdq_FUxFkFhXwiiLaQ?key=XM3rMn4u_QGwCC1mhtcApQ)

# Place Limit Orders

A limit order allows you to place an order at a specific price (limit price)

- A long (buy) limit order executes when the price matches or drops below your limit price.
- A short (sell) limit order executes when the price matches or rises above your limit price.

Tap the `LIMIT` tab on the trade ticket to place a limit order. Once placed, it will appear in the `ORDERS` table. You can cancel the order anytime before execution.

![](https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXcqJWsbrftOTHBIEvtL76mEPQUXVjmuyS4mkFQv5OZNqu1mrolkkXsJftKMDPGbKBqpzV7wg99G4Pjk8pWVhgc2leqRJmCLDp_a5J6VBd--xbV13MwzwAI0fIrzpJUDiTipqFo9pA?key=XM3rMn4u_QGwCC1mhtcApQ)

![](https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXfFjUgopkoCbPa7qFNfgCn5BXierZiwMwNxvEacydk5OwslfuZY6O09Co9WabOZCL2tS51J_z1ByT_UQzahpy1PU-cX306FEJoA8LDfoxGLv8AOPWjQyW8dvZDDgXVntL7cJc9YeA?key=XM3rMn4u_QGwCC1mhtcApQ)

Price impact may still affect the execution, meaning the order might not fill at the exact limit price. Additionally, execution is not guaranteed due to factors such as:

- Insufficient liquidity in TLP to execute the order even if the price was reached.
- The price never reached the set acceptable level.
- Delisting or suspension of the perpetual market or collateral token.

# Add Take-Profit / Stop-Loss Orders

To add or manage Take-Profit (TP) and Stop-Loss (SL) orders, click the `ADD` or `VIEW` button in the `POSITIONS` table.

- TP/SL orders execute market orders at preset trigger prices (exit points), helping secure profits or minimize losses in volatile markets.
- Once set, TP/SL orders appear in the `ORDERS` table as well.
- TP / SL orders are market orders and may not execute at the exact trigger price due to price impact.
- A maximum of 5 TP/SL orders can be placed per position.
- Orders can be canceled at any time.

TP/SL orders will be automatically canceled if:

- The parent position is liquidated, closed, or reduced below the TP/SL order size.

# Liquidations

## Understand Liquidation Price

When opening a long SUI position, if the position size exceeds the collateral value, there will be a price at which potential losses approach the collateral value.

This is known as the Liquidation Price, calculated as the point where:

*Collateral - Losses - Fees \< 1.5% of Position Size*

If the token price drops below this level, the position will be automatically liquidated.

## Manage Liquidation Risk

The estimated liquidation price changes over time due to unrealized fees and PnL, especially with leverage above 10x and long holding periods.

Upon liquidation, any remaining collateral after deducting losses and fees is distributed as follows:

- *Fee to *[**Insurance Fund**](https://docs.typus.finance/risk-management#4FHHN)* = 1% \* Position Size in USD*
- *Fee to TLP = Remaining Collateral - Fee to Insurance Fund*

To mitigate the risk of liquidation, click the “✏️" icon in the `POSITIONS` table to add collateral and improve the liquidation price.

We use a benchmark price from [**oracles**](https://docs.typus.finance/oracle) to calculate **Premiums** and **Net Deposit in USD**.

\*Depositing tokens in Yield products with an equivalent value of $1 will earn you 0.005 EXP per hour. Net Deposit in USD and EXPs are rounded down to the nearest integer. If your net deposit in Yield products is $250.5, you'll receive 1 EXP per hour ($250 \* 0.005 = 1.25 EXP, rounded down to 1 EXP).

- **Net Deposit in USD** = The total value in USD of **Warmup Balance** and **Active Balance** across all your deposits.
- The same calculation applies to SAFU products.

\*\*The TLP Price is updated every Monday. If your TLP Balance is 200 TLP and the TLP Price is $1.23, you'll receive 1 EXP per hour (200 \* $1.23 \* 0.005 = 1.23 EXP, rounded down to 1 EXP).

- **Net Deposit in USD** = TLP Balance \* TLP Price.

\*\*\*Bidding options in tokens equivalent to $1 in premium will earn you 200 EXP. For instance, if you pay $2.5 at bidding, it will round down to $2 and you'll get 2 \* 200 = 400 EXP. Rebates are not deducted, so bid as early as possible.

\*\*\*\*Trade perps will earn you 200 EXP multiplied by the trading fee in USD. For instance, if you pay $0.5 trading fee, you'll get 0.5 \* 200 = 100 EXP.

1\. Click **Refresh** btn to timely update your **Net Deposit in USD **and** EXP!**
2\. Tails will retain its level, traits, and EXPs you've consumed. So, you don't have to worry about losing your progress or the unique features of your Tails when you decide to unstake it. However,** it won't be eligible for profit sharing while it's unstaked**.

[title] Vault Bidder (Option Buyer)
[path] Users/

Options Buyers purchase options to meet their speculative or hedging needs.

- Speculators

High volatility is one of the key characteristics of long-tail assets. If speculators long or short on such assets by holding perpetual futures, they are highly likely to be liquidated, even with 5x leverage. However, if they use options to long or short on these assets, they will be exempt from liquidation risk. By buying out-of-the-money options, they can leverage their positions up tp 1,000x.

- Hedgers

Options allow traders to hedge non-linear risks. Typus will integrate AMM Swap and lending protocols to meet the long-term and stable demand for options.

# Covered Call Buyer

A [**Covered Call**](https://docs.typus.finance/defi-options-vaults#18lfj) vault bidder is a covered call buyer. The buyer needs to bid the option when the vault is auctioned and pay premium (depositor's reward) either in underlying tokens (such as $SUI) or stablecoins (such as $USDC) after an auction ends.

If the buyer decides to execute the contract as the call option expires, the underlying asset deposited by the seller will be transferred to the buyer, that is, **cash-settled in tokens**.

`Example`

You pay 0.0625 SUI to buy 1 SUI call option.

- Duration: 7 days
- Current market price: 1 SUI = 10 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 15 USDC
- Contract Size: 1 SUI Call Option
- Premium: The seller gets 0.0625 SUI from you before vault settlement

`Case 1: When Settle Price > Strike Price, you may gain`

If the price of SUI rises **strongly **to 20 USDC when the call expires, you have the right to execute the call. At this time, you get 0.25 SUI token from the seller. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 20 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 15 USDC **-> executed by you**
- Vault Settlement: You get \[ (20 - 15) / 20 ] = 0.25 SUI from the seller
- Net PNL in SUI:
  - You get 0.1875 SUI ( 0.25 SU - 0.0625 SUI = 0.1875 SUI )
  - The seller loses 0.1875 SUI

If the price of SUI rises **slightly **to 16 USDC when the call expires, you have the right to execute the call. At this time, you get 0.0625 SUI token from the seller. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 16 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 15 USDC **-> executed by you**
- Vault Settlement: You get \[ (16 - 15) / 16 ] = 0.0625 SUI from the seller
- Net PNL in SUI:
  - You are breakeven ( 0.0625 SUI - 0.0625 SUI = 0 SUI )
  - The seller is breakeven too

`Case 2: When Settle Price ≦ Strike Price, you lose`

If the price of SUI stays below 15 USDC when the call expires, you will not execute the call.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI ≦ 15 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 15 USDC **-> not executed by you**
- Vault Settlement: The seller doesn’t need to transfer SUI to you
- Net PNL in SUI:
  - You lose 0.0625 SUI
  - The seller gets 0.0625 SUI

If the buyer decides to execute the contract as the call option expires, the stablecoins deposited by the seller will be transferred to the buyer, that is, **cash-settled in stablecoins.**

`Example`

You pay 1 USDC to buy 1 SUI call option.

- Duration: 7 days
- Current market price: 1 SUI = 10 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 12 USDC
- Contract Size: 1 SUI Call Option

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 15 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 12 USDC **-> executed by you**
- Vault Settlement: You get 15 - 12 = 3 USDC from the seller
- Net PNL in USDC:
  - You get 2 USDC ( 3 USDC - 1 USDC = 2 USDC )
  - The seller loses 2 USDC

If the price of SUI rises **slightly **to 13 USDC when the call expires, you have the right to execute the call. At this time, you get 1 USDC from the seller. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 13 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 12 USDC **-> executed by you**
- Vault Settlement: You get 13 - 12 = 1 USDC from the seller
- Net PNL in SUI:
  - You are breakeven ( 1 USDC - 1 USDC = 0 USDC )
  - The seller is breakeven too

`Case 2: When Settle Price ≦ Strike Price, you lose`

The buyer needs to bid the option when the vault is auctioned and pay premium (depositor's reward) either in underlying tokens (such as $SUI) or stablecoins (such as $USDC) after an auction ends.

If the buyer decides to execute the contract as the put option expires, the stablecoins deposited by the seller will be transferred to the buyer, that is, **cash-settled in stablecoins.**

`Example`

You pay 1 USDC to buy 1 SUI put option.

- Duration: 7 days
- Current market price: 1 SUI = 10 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 8 USDC
- Contract Size: 1 SUI Put Option
- Premium: The seller gets 1 USDC from you before vault settlement

`Case 1: When Settle Price < Strike Price, you may gain`

If the price of SUI decreases **strongly **to 5 USDC when the put expires, you have the right to execute the put. At this time, you get 3 USDC from the seller. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 5 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 8 USDC **-> executed by you**
- Vault Settlement: You get ( 8 - 5 ) = 3 USDC from the seller
- Net PNL in USDC:
  - You get 2 USDC ( $3 - $1 = $2 )
  - The seller loses 2 USDC

If the price of SUI decreases **slightly **to 7 USDC when the put expires, you have the right to execute the put. At this time, you get 1 USDC from the seller. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

`Case 1: When Settle Price ≧ Strike price B, you gain`

If the price of SUI rises **strongly **to 20 USDC when the call spread expires, you have the right to execute the call at Strike price A, and the seller has the right to execute the call at Strike price B. At this time, you get 0.10 SUI token from the seller. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 20 USDC
- Strike price A: 1 SUI = 13 USDC **-> executed by you**
- Strike price B: 1 SUI = 15 USDC **-> executed by the seller**

[title] Risk Management
[path] Products/Typus Perps/

All risk management parameters are subject to change over time to reflect evolving market conditions, ensuring sustainable liquidity and a well-balanced trading environment.

# Dynamic Trading Fees

Trading fees are dynamically adjusted based on order size, collateral liquidity, and market volatility. This approach ensures that the cost of large orders more accurately reflects their impact, fostering a fairer and more balanced trading environment. [**View details here**](https://docs.typus.finance/fees#iOMq1).

# Maximum Trade Size

To manage the risk exposure of TLP holders, the maximum trade size is governed by two key factors: the **Open Interest Cap** and the **Maximum Single Order Reserve Usage**.

## Open Interest Cap

An open interest (OI) cap has been implemented to prevent excessive one-sided exposure in any given market. This helps reduce the risk of disproportionate losses for liquidity providers and promotes more stable and balanced trading conditions.

The maximum allowable OI is not a static number. It automatically adjusts based on the current depth and TVL of the pool. As liquidity grows, the market capacity grows with it.

Example: SUI/USD Market

- User Long Position Size = 25,000 SUI
- User Short Position Size = 10,000 SUI
- OI Cap (per direction) = 100,000 SUI
- Remaining OI for New Long Positions = 100,000 SUI - 25,000 SUI = 75,000 SUI
- Remaining OI for New Short Positions = 100,000 SUI - 10,000 SUI = 90,000 SUI

## Maximum Single Order Reserve Usage

For each collateral token, the maximum single order reserve usage is determined by the **available capacity** and a **maximum reserve ratio** of total collateral liquidity.

*Maximum Single Order Reserve Usage = min ( Total Collateral Liquidity - Reserved Amount , Max Reserve Ratio \* Total Collateral Liquidity )*

Example

- Total Collateral Liquidity = 35,000 USDC
- Reserved Amount = 10,000 USDC
- Max Reserve Ratio = 10%
- Maximum Single Order Reserve Usage = min ( 35,000 USDC - 10,000 USDC , 35,000 USDC \* 10% ) = min ( 25,000 USDC , 3,500 USDC ) = 3,500 USDC

The maximum single order reserve usage directly limits the maximum trade size when using leverage. It represents the maximum amount of collateral that can be borrowed for a single trade. This mechanism helps manage risk and ensures the platform maintains sufficient liquidity for all users.

# Auto-Deleveraging (ADL)

During periods of high market volatility, rapid price movements can lead to significant gains for traders - resulting in significant unrealized losses for Typus Liquidity Pools.

To ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, the system may automatically close profitable positions even if the trader has not set a take-profit order. This is known as the Auto-Deleveraging (ADL), a risk management safeguard. It is designed to mitigate extreme exposure and preserve balance for all participants.

**Auto-Deleveraging (ADL)** serves as the final backstop for protocol solvency.

- **Trigger: **LP's total unrealized losses exceed 30% of the pool's TVL.
- **Execution**
  - Ranking: Positions are ranked from highest to lowest by ADL Score.
  - Sequential Closure: The protocol begins closing positions starting with the highest ADL Score.
  - Termination: Deleveraging continues until the LP’s unrealized loss ratio falls back below the 30% threshold. This ensures only the necessary amount of open interest is reduced to restore system stability.
- **ADL Score Calculation**
  - The ADL Score measures how much a position has gained and how much risk it adds to the pool.

| Peace | Position direction is the same as LP exposure | 0.5 | Lower priority for closure as these positions help hedge LP risk |

# T+1 Profit Lock `(closed)`

To prevent predatory trading activity and ensure market stability, trading altcoins such as the $TYPUS market utilizes a T+1 Profit Lock.

- **Realized Profits:** Gains from closed positions are subject to a 24-hour lock period before they can be claimable.
- **Immediate Margin Return: **Your initial margin (collateral) is returned to you immediately upon position closure, allowing you to maintain operational liquidity while the profit is secured.

If the trade is determined to be malicious or exploitative, the funds will be **permanently** locked.

# Insurance Fund

Insurance Fund - A Critical Layer of Protection for TLP

To safeguard TLP holders against extreme market volatility and unexpected losses, **1% of the notional value from each liquidated position** is allocated to the Insurance Fund. This fund acts as a safety net, reimbursing the TLP in the rare event of significant loss - helping preserve the integrity and sustainability of the liquidity pool.

Additionally, during liquidation, any remaining collateral after deducting losses and fees is retained as a liquidation fee and contributed to the TLP, further reinforcing the system’s resilience. Together, these mechanisms form a robust defense for TLP against adverse trading outcomes.

[title] Modified Dutch Auction
[path] Architecture/

# An Innovative Approach for Options Primary Market

When a Dutch Auction starts, **Bid Price (Option Price)** will decrease over time, and options buyers can submit a **Bid Size (Contract Size)** of options they want to buy during the auction. At the end of the auction, the latest bidding price that fills the last offer will be used as the **Clearing Price (Delivery Price)**. If it’s not fully filled, it will be delivered at the **Lower Bound Premium**.

If the **Clearing Price** is lower than bidders' **Bid Price**, bidders will receive premium rebates after the auction ends.

The following three scenarios will lead to the end of the Auction.

1. The auction time (bidding time) ends.
2. All option contracts are sold out before the bidding time ends.

`Example`

- Upper Bound Premium: 0.25 SUI
- Lower Bound Premium: 0.10 SUI
- Max Bidding Time: 5 mins
- Max Bidding Size: 100 SUI

In a 5-minute auction, the upper bound started to decay from 0.25 SUI.

`Case 1` All SUI option contracts were sold out in 3 minutes, and a total of 100 contracts were sold.

- Actual Bidding Time: 3 mins
- Actual Bidding Size: 100 SUI
- Clearing Price: 0.15 SUI

The last bidder submits a new bid order to buy 1 contract when the option price reaches 0.15 SUI, which happens to be the 100th contract. At this point, the auction is completed, and all bidders who outbid the last bidder also buy as many contracts as they want at 0.15 SUI per contract. The total contract value sold at this auction was 15 SUI (0.15 SUI times 100 contracts).

::Image[]{src="https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/nwqG_155-eqqqC4Qd3SOR_bidding-curve.png" size="60" width="776" height="704" position="center"}

`Case 2` All SUI option contracts haven't been sold out in 5 minutes, and a total of 50 contracts were sold.

- Actual Bidding Time: 5 mins
- Actual Bidding Size: 50 SUI
- Clearing Price: 0.10 SUI

In this case, as the total contract size filled is 50 SUI, so the clearing price is detemined at lower bound premium which is 0.10 SUI. All bidders buy as many contracts as they want at 0.10 SUI per contract. The total contract value sold at this auction was 5 SUI (0.10 SUI times 50 contracts).

# Eliminate the Bottleneck of DOVs

DeFi Options Vaults (DOVs), on-chain structured products, are not a new idea in crypto. Quoting one of the leading crypto options market makers, QCP Capital’s [**introduction to DOV**](https://qcpcapital.medium.com/an-explanation-of-defi-options-vaults-dovs-22d7f0d0c09f) at the end of 2021: “Investors simply ‘stake’ their assets into vaults which deploy the assets into options strategies.”

DOVs were treated as scalable trading of non-linear instruments on DeFi, but the **imbalanced market structure of DOVs** leads to its low scalability for current DOVs.

In the existing DOVs model, retail investors deposit tokens into DOVs and sell options contracts at a specific time (usually every Friday or Saturday). Option sellers take risks to earn premiums. However, option buyers are not permissionless, usually 3 to 5 professional financial institutions.

As these DOVs become more popular, option sellers will get worse yields because more options are sold at the same time, but option buyers are still limited in those 3 to 5 professional institutions. According to [**Glassnode**](https://insights.glassnode.com/) data, the implied volatility of BTC options and ETH options every Friday and Saturday is **10% to 15% lower than that on other days**. These option buyers sell the options elsewhere (usually CEXs) and earn high returns with extremely low risk, but the profits are actually deprived from retail investors. Retail investors take the same risk, but earn a small premium. When they find out the truth, there is a high probability that they will choose to quit. This phenomenon is the biggest obstacle in market expansion of DOV products.

![](https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/j8LMHnsRh6Ytsad7I_K-F_dov-issue.png)

Typus believes that **increasing the number of options buyers** is the key to solve the scalability problem. This can be achieved by introducing more professional institutions and enabling retail investors to participate as options buyers. Through the design of a Modified Dutch Auction mechanism, Typus simplifies the decision-making process for option buyers and lowers the barrier to entry for retail investors, allowing them to participate as options buyers.

# Key Advantages of Modified Dutch Auction

## Low Efforts for Bidders

For option buyers, especially retail investors, determining the option price and submitting the order is far more complicated than submitting the price after observing the behavior from other bidders. Typus aims to make users’ decision-making process as simple as possible with just one click to bid options.

## Favorable Premiums as Incentives for Option Underwriting

The Nash equilibrium of the modified Dutch auction model is that all bidders will faithfully express their willingness to pay, which enables the option seller to receive a fair option premium. Further, acting as an option underwriter is a high risk, so a sufficient premium is required to increase their incentive.

In each auction, bidders trade off certainty against lower buy-in costs. While option prices will decline over time, bidders don't know when the auction will end, so if a bidder wants to wait for a lower price, he/she may not be able to buy as many option contracts as he/she originally planned. When people start FOMO, they may be willing to pay higher premiums to get the option contracts for speculation.

## Agility in Listing New Vaults

Since the Modified Dutch Auction does not need to rely on off-chain arbitrage to provide liquidity, Typus Vaults for any new underlying assets can be created quickly. As long as Typus c determine reasonable oracle pricing sources of an underlying asset, a new vault can be immediately seen and participated in by many DeFi players.

[title] Delta & Risk Level
[path] Products/DeFi Options Vaults/

[**Delta**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/delta.asp) measures the sensitivity of an option's price to a $1 change in the price of its underlying asset. An option's delta is the probability that it will finish in the money.*** The higher the delta, the riskier the vault.***

Let's assume we have a call option priced at $1.00 with a delta of 0.50. This means that for every change in the price of the underlying asset, the option's price will change by 50% of that amount.

In this scenario, the price of the underlying asset increased from $96 to $97.5, which is a $1.5 move. Consequently, the option's premium will increase by 50% of this $1.5 change, which is $0.75 ($1.5 \* 50% = $0.75). Therefore, the new price of the option will be $1.75.

It's important to note that

- Call options always have a positive delta between 0 and 1.00, while put options always have a negative delta between 0 and -1.00.
- Being long a call results in positive delta, while being short a call results in negative delta. Conversely, being long a put results in negative delta, and being short a put results in positive delta.

:::hint{type="info"}
Traders typically refer to delta without the decimal point, so ***a delta of 0.50*** is commonly called a ***50 delta***.
:::

The absolute value of delta also indicates the approximate probability that the option will finish in the money. For example, a delta of 20 suggests a 20% chance of finishing in the money, while a delta of 50 suggests a 50-50 chance.

Delta is dynamic and changes with movements in the underlying asset. Options with a delta less than 50 are considered out of the money. If the delta is greater than 50, the option is in the money. A delta close to 50 indicates the option is at the money.

# Typus Vanilla Options

Typus Vanilla Options are [**European-Style Options**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/e/europeanoption.asp) and [**Cash-Settled**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/cash-settled-options.asp). It can only be exercised on the expiration date of the option. Call options are settled in tokens (such as $SUI) or stablecoins (such as $USDC) while put options are generally settled in stablecoins.

Currently, Typus Vanilla Options are **fully collateralized** because the volatility of long-tail assets causes risks for options players when accessing leveraged options. Insufficient liquidation or intentional manipulation by whales can result in risks for users and the platform.

## Covered Call

In a [**Covered Call**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/coveredcall.asp) strategy,

- [**Vault Depositors**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller#q-Cgm)** are selling call options**, while
- [**Vault Bidders**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-bidder-option-buyer#jCL7b)** are buying call options.**

This means that vault depositors sell call options while depositing the corresponding underlying asset (such as $SUI) as collateral to cover potential selling risks.

Vault Depositors (Call Sellers) can immediately harvest their Reward ([**Premium)**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/option-premium.asp) under Typus Vaults upon each auction ends.

If the market price of the underlying (such as $SUI) is higher than the Target Price ([**Strike Price**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/strikeprice.asp)) on the expiration date, the call buyer (vault bidder) will exercise the call option, and the call seller (vault depositor) needs to sell underlying assets (depositor’s collateral) to the call buyer (vault bidder). Under cash settlement, the amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the target price (strike price) at expiry.

This strategy could help vault depositors increase their returns in a **neutral or bearish market movement**, while help vault bidders increase their returns in a **very bullish market movement**.

In a [**Call Selling**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/calloption.asp) strategy,

- [**Vault Depositors**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller#kGudu)** are selling call options**, while
- [**Vault Bidders**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller#kGudu)** are buying call options.**

This means that vault depositors sell call options while depositing sufficient cash reserves (such as $USDC) as collateral to cover potential selling risks.

Vault Depositors (Call Sellers) can immediately harvest their Reward ([**Premium)**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/option-premium.asp) under Typus Vaults upon each auction ends.

If the market price of the underlying (such as $SUI) is higher than the Target Price ([**Strike Price**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/strikeprice.asp)) on the expiration date, the call buyer (vault bidder) will exercise the call option and get the cash reserves from the depositor's collateral. Under cash settlement, the amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the target price (strike price) at expiry.

This strategy could help vault depositors increase their returns in a **bearish market movement**, while help vault bidders increase their returns in a** bullish market movement**.

## Put Selling

In a [**Put Selling**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/putoption.asp) strategy,

- [**Vault Depositors**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller#bLojC)** are selling put options**, while
- [**Vault Bidders**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-bidder-option-buyer#xOe5C)** are buying put options**.

This means that vault depositors sell put options while depositing sufficient cash reserves (such as $USDC) as collateral to cover potential selling risks.

Vault Depositors (Put Sellers) can immediately harvest their Reward ([**Premium)**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/option-premium.asp) under Typus Vaults upon each auction ends.

If the market price of the underlying (such as $SUI) is lower than the Target Price ([**Strike Price**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/strikeprice.asp)) on the expiration date, the put buyer (vault bidder) will exercise the put option and get the cash reserves from the depositor's collateral. Under cash settlement, the amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the target price (strike price) at expiry.

This strategy could help vault depositors increase their returns in a **neutral or bullish market movement**, while help vault bidders increase their returns in a **bearish market movement**.

## Call Spread

In a **Call Spread** strategy,

- [**Vault Depositors**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller#c-bF6)** are selling a call at a lower strike price, and buying another call at a higher strike price**, while
- [**Vault Bidders**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-bidder-option-buyer#gatWx)** are buying a call at a lower strike price, and selling another call at a higher strike price.**

This means that **vault depositors net sell call **options while depositing the corresponding underlying asset (such as $SUI) as collateral to cover potential net selling risks.

Vault Depositors (Call Spread Sellers) can immediately harvest their Reward ([**Premium)**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/option-premium.asp) under Typus Vaults upon each auction ends.

If the market price of the underlying (such as $SUI) is higher than the higher Target Price ([**Strike Price**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/strikeprice.asp)) on the expiration date, the call spread buyer (vault bidder) will exercise the call spread, and the call spread seller (vault depositor) needs to net sell underlying assets (depositor’s collateral) to the call spread buyer (vault bidder). Under cash settlement, the amount is equal to the net difference between the market price and two target prices (strike prices) at expiry.

This strategy could help vault depositors increase their returns in a **bearish market movement**, while help vault bidders increase their returns in a **bullish market movement**.

# Typus Option Strategies

The non-linear return of Options enables us to create a variety of option strategies by combining call and put options with different strike prices and expiration dates. Investors can utilize options to express their views on Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega, and Rho.

Typus' strategic partners, Vaulters, will offer diverse strategy vaults and guide users on the market conditions that are suitable for each vault to fulfill their individual needs.

[title] Vault Life Journey
[path] Architecture/

Typus Vaults will go through this journey in their life cycle:

1. Creation
2. Auction
3. Delivery
4. Settlement

![](https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/HPpJh4Cr_4s7P93F2tsUz_image.png "A Single Round of a Vault")

# Creation

When a vault is created, the vault enters its `Warmup Period`. [**Vault Depositors (Option Sellers)**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller) are able to deposit or withdraw anytime from `Warmup Balance` before auction starts.

# Auction

Once auction starts, it's the solo time for [**Vault Bidders (Option Buyers)**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-bidder-option-buyer) to step into the auction and bid for their desired positions. Now the vault turns into its `Lockup Period` and all positions are activated into `Active Balance` from `Warmup Balance`, depositors are able to unsubscribe anytime from `Active Balance` before the settlement.

Your deposit during the `Lockup Period` will not go into the ongoing auction, but you still can deposit whenever you want as long as there is capacity in the next round.

Unsubscribing funds will involve a 2-step process:

1. Send a request to `Unsubscribe` funds. Your `Active Balance` will be moved to `Deactivating Balance`.
2. Come back to `Claim` your funds once the `Lockup Period` ends ([**Vault Settlement**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-settlement)).

![](https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/28UIg87aBCSFu-NaPxcLC_image.png)

The auction mechanism is elaborated in the [**Modified Dutch Auction**](https://docs.typus.finance/modified-dutch-auction).

# Delivery

When an auction ends, the vault stays at `Lockup Period` but the Option Premium (Depositors Reward) will be delivered from [**Vault Bidders (Option Buyers)**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-bidder-option-buyer) to [**Vault Depositors (Option Sellers)**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller), so Vault Depositors (Option Sellers) are able to harvest or compound their rewards anytime.

If your deposit is filled successfully, it will be in `Active Balance` during the `Lockup Period`. Otherwise, your deposit will stay in `Warmup Balance` and you can withdraw it anytime.

::Image[]{src="https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/0HwGTixRSfOTwrJYCtT9A_image.png" size="50" width="866" height="1160" position="center"}

Details are described in [**Auction Delivery**](https://docs.typus.finance/auction-delivery).

# Settlement

On the expiration date of an option strategy, the vault will be settled by a [**Settlement Price**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/settlementprice.asp), the level of the underlying market price at the time of execution. We use [**Pyth 1 Hour EMAP**](https://docs.pyth.network/documentation/how-pyth-works/ema-price-aggregation) as the settle price.

The profit and loss of [**Vault Depositors (Option Sellers)**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller) will be calculated by the [**Strike Price**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/strikeprice.asp) and Settlement Price. Then the vault evolves into the next round, the life of another round has begun, and the remaining funds of Vault Depositors (Option Sellers) will be auto-reinvested in the next round.

Go check more at [**Vault Settlement**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-settlement).

[title] Introduction
[path] /

[**Typus Finance**](https://typus.finance/) is a groundbreaking decentralized derivatives protocol on the [**Sui Blockchain**](https://sui.io/), offering sophisticated and integrated on-chain trading solutions for options and perpetual contracts. Designed to democratize access to advanced financial instruments, Typus addresses key challenges within the DeFi derivatives market through innovative mechanisms such as Dutch auction pricing, flexible strategy [**vaults**](https://docs.typus.finance/defi-options-vaults), and comprehensive liquidity solutions. Our protocol creates a more efficient, transparent, and accessible derivatives ecosystem, serving both retail and institutional traders.

### **Democratizing Derivatives**

Derivatives trading has long been a cornerstone of mature financial markets, offering essential tools for risk management, leverage, and strategic trading. However, decentralized finance (DeFi) has historically segmented derivatives into separate markets, limiting their combined strategic potential. Typus Finance bridges this gap by seamlessly integrating options and perpetuals, providing users unparalleled flexibility and capital efficiency.

### **Innovative Market Dynamics**

Typus Finance initially established itself as a pioneer in decentralized options trading through its [**modified Dutch auction**](https://docs.typus.finance/modified-dutch-auction) mechanism, ensuring optimal price discovery and liquidity even for less actively traded assets. Complementing this, our perpetuals offering enhances market dynamics by providing continuous exposure without settlement dates, facilitating efficient capital deployment through leverage, and allowing seamless entry and exit from positions.

### **Enhanced Capital Efficiency**

A critical innovation within Typus Finance is allowing traders to utilize floating profits from their options positions as collateral for perpetual futures. This capability significantly increases capital efficiency, transforming traditionally illiquid positions into dynamic, hedged strategies. For instance, traders can lock in options profits by opening corresponding inverse perpetual positions, effectively managing risks and optimizing returns without sacrificing market exposure.

### **Comprehensive Ecosystem Integration**

Built on the advanced Sui blockchain infrastructure, Typus leverages parallel transaction processing capabilities, low latency, and cost-effective operations to deliver a superior derivatives trading experience. Our protocol's open and composable architecture creates natural integration points with other Sui-based DeFi protocols, fostering an interconnected ecosystem that encourages innovation and collaboration.

### **Our Vision**

Typus Finance aims to be the premier derivatives hub within the Sui Network, facilitating sophisticated trading and risk management strategies accessible to all market participants. We strive to continuously innovate, expand our product offerings, and reinforce security and usability standards to support the growing demand for advanced financial instruments in the decentralized finance space.

### **Looking Ahead**

The evolution of Typus Finance signifies not just the introduction of new products but also the expansion of possibilities within decentralized derivatives markets. Our integration of options and perpetual futures into a unified platform unlocks strategic opportunities previously unavailable in fragmented markets, enhancing user experience and driving the broader adoption of decentralized finance.

Welcome to Typus Finance—your comprehensive hub for trading options and perps with real yield on the Sui Network.

[title] Typus Perps
[path] Products/

# Typus Perps: An Integrated Derivatives Solution

While options and perpetual futures (Perps) have traditionally operated as separate financial instruments, Typus Finance has identified the transformative potential in their integration. This vision manifests as [**Typus Perps**](https://typus.finance/perps) — a unified derivatives platform that leverages the unique strengths of both products while mitigating their individual limitations.

[**Typus Perps**](https://typus.finance/perps) is a decentralized spot and perpetual exchange on Sui. Powered by the [**Typus Liquidity Pool (TLP)**](https://typus.finance/tlp/) and Pyth oracle, it offers deep liquidity, zero price impact, and slippage-free trading with leverage up to 50x.

Oracle ensures market stability during liquidations and stop-loss events. With a seamless one-click trading experience, users can open and close positions without extra accounts or deposits. Liquidity providers earn rewards from market making, swap fees, and leveraged trading.

## Enhance Liquidity Provision

Typus introduces [**Typus Liquidity Pool (TLP)**](https://typus.finance/tlp/) token, allowing users to provide liquidity to the perps market while earning:

- Fee revenue from perpetual trading
- Risk distribution across multiple assets
- Returns correlated with market volatility and trading volume

This structure creates an attractive entry point for more risk-averse participants to gain exposure to the Typus ecosystem.

## Hedge DeFi Options Vaults

Typus Perps enables sophisticated strategy combinations previously unavailable in fragmented DeFi ecosystems. For instance, users depositing in the Sui Daily Covered Call Vault can hedge against potential losses from significant price increases by opening a long SUI perpetual position at the strike price, effectively creating a collar strategy that provides a more stable return profile.

[title] Typus Liquidity Pool (TLP)
[path] Products/Typus Perps/

The [**Typus Liquidity Pool (TLP)**](https://typus.finance/tlp/) is the backbone of the Typus Perps trading ecosystem, providing essential liquidity for perpetual traders. Liquidity providers (LPs) contribute to these pools, ensuring seamless trading while earning rewards.

To optimize capital efficiency and protocol security, Typus utilizes a dual-pool architecture:

- **Main TLP:** A multi-asset index pool (supporting assets like SUI and USDC) that serves as the primary counterparty for major perpetual markets. It is designed for diversified liquidity and broad market exposure.
- **Isolated TLP **`(closed)`**:** Specialized, asset-specific pools designed for more volatile altcoin markets — starting with the **TYPUS/USD market**. This model isolates specific asset risks from the rest of the protocol, allowing for tailored risk parameters and dedicated liquidity for the $TYPUS ecosystem.

By participating in either pool, LPs act as the counterparty to traders, earning a share of trading fees, funding rates, and liquidation premiums while providing the depth necessary for a robust decentralized exchange.

# How TLP Works

**Liquidity Provision**

- Users deposit supported assets (SUI, USDC) to mint TLP tokens, representing their share of the pool.

**Counterparty Role**

- TLP acts as the counterparty to traders - when traders profit, TLP holders incur losses, and vice versa.

**Yield Generation**

- TLP holders passively earn from fees and leverage trading activity:
  - 70% of the revenue from
    - **Trading fees** of opening and closing positions
    - **Borrow fees** of open positions
    - **Swap fees **if applicable
  - 100% of the revenue from
    - **Funding fees** of open positions
    - **Net liquidation fees** (remaining collateral after covering trader losses and allocating 1% to the insurance fund)
- Earnings accumulate automatically within each TLP token, increasing its price and compounding returns.
- Higher trading volume leads to higher earnings for TLP holders.

**Extra Boost**

- Enjoy an additional APR in $TLP tokens, which can be compounded anytime.

**Dynamic Composition**

- The asset allocation within the TLP pool adjusts automatically based on trading activity and demand, optimizing for fee structure and profitability.
- TLP asset allocation adjusts automatically based on trading activity and demand, optimizing liquidity and profitability.

# Isolated TLP`(closed)`

While the standard TLP acts as a multi-asset index pool, Typus Perps uses the Isolated TLP model to support specific asset markets with tailored risk profiles. This model is first being deployed as an MVP for the **$TYPUS perpetual market**.

For **LPs**, it offers a way to gain exposure to the fees and PnL of a specific asset market without the "index" exposure of the main TLP.

For the **Protocol**, it serves as a "walled garden" that allows Typus to list new and volatile altcoins while maintaining the highest level of security for the core treasury.

**Key Characteristics**

- **Risk Containment:** The Isolated TLP separates the liquidity of high-volatility or native assets from the main TLP. This ensures that the price fluctuations of $TYPUS do not impact the performance or risk exposure of LPs in the broader multi-asset pool.
- **Targeted Liquidity:** LPs can choose to provide liquidity specifically for the $TYPUS perpetual market. This allows the protocol to build deep, asset-specific liquidity for assets that require specialized market-making strategies.
- **Customized Parameters:** Because the pool is isolated, it utilizes its own set of risk guardrails, including:
  - **Specific Oracle:** Tailored to the volatility of the $TYPUS token.
  - **Specialized Fee and OI cap:** Optimized for the unique supply/demand dynamics of the asset.
  - **ADL & T+1 Profit Lock:** To maintain market stability, Typus Perps will deleverage the most profitable opposing positions when certain condition is triggered. In addition, realized profits in the Isolated $TYPUS market are subject to a 24-hour lock, while initial margin remains instantly withdrawable.

# How TLP APR is Calculated

TLP APR is composed of two main components:

- **Fee APR** from TLP fee sharing in the past week
  - This reflects the fees shared to TLP from perpetual trading activity, excluding asset price changes and trader PnL.
  - Fees are auto-compounded into each TLP token after every trade. The fee breakdown is as follows:
    - 70% of revenues from trading fees, borrow fees, and swap fees
    - 100% of revenues from funding fees, and net liquidation fees (remaining collateral after covering trader losses and allocating 1% to the insurance fund)

| Fee Breakdown | % Shared to TLP |
| --------------------- | --------------- |
| Trading fees | 70% |
| Borrow fees | 70% |
| Swap fees | 70% |
| Funding fees | 100% |
| Net liquidation fees | 100% |

- **Boosted APR** from TLP bonus
  - Bonus rewards are distributed to liquidity providers hourly, offering additional yield on top of fee sharing.
- **Total APR = Fee APR + Boosted APR**
  - *Fee APR = ( Cumulative TLP Fees in USD at t - Cumulative TLP Fees in USD at t-7d ) / Total Staked TLP Value in USD \* 52 weeks in a year*
  - *Boosted APR = ( Hourly TLP Bonus in USD / Total Staked TLP Value in USD ) \* 8,760 hours in a year*
  - The combined APR reflects the total earning potential for TLP holders, updated in real time.

# Target Weight Rebalancing

The asset weights within the TLP pool adjust dynamically based on market activity. Fees for minting, burning, or swapping TLP vary depending on how the trade impacts asset balance:

- Trades that improve balance receive lower fees
- Trades that worsen imbalance incur higher fees

This dynamic fee model incentivizes users to support healthy pool composition, especially during periods of high volume and shifting liquidity. To maintain optimal allocation, Typus may rebalance token weights within the TLP when necessary.

# Supply Liquidity to Mint TLP

- Contribute tokens to the Typus Liquidity Pool (TLP) to earn fee shares and boosts.
- TLP tokens represent your proportional ownership of the pool.
- Mint fees apply when minting TLP.

Go to the [**TLP**](https://typus.finance/tlp/) page and open the `MINT` tab. Choose the token you want to trade for TLP, enter the amount, and **check the box to stake TLP for boosted APR** if desired. Confirm the transaction, and your TLP balance will be updated.

![](https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/xNXb_UFhNDQhE_hWsIeVC_image.png)

# Remove Liquidity to Burn TLP

Enter the TLP amount you wish to burn, and choose a token to withdraw from TLP. Burn fees apply when burning TLP.

::Image[]{src="https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/W5HOtCXAPRX5YFR_S6le5_image.png" size="50" width="914" height="762" position="center"}

# Risks

Profit and Loss (PnL) Impact on TLP

- Trader profits reduce the value of TLP, as winnings are paid out from TLP.
- Trader losses increase the value of TLP, as those funds are retained by TLP holders.

Token Price Volatility

- The TLP holds a mix of stablecoins and volatile assets.
- Users may withdraw tokens that are worth less than their initial deposit due to market fluctuations.

Price feeds are sourced from** Pyth, Supra, OKX, Cetus, and Coingecko**. Most options use the oracle price at the time of settlement, with two exceptions:

1. $TYPUS options are settled using a 5-minute TWAP (Time-Weighted Average Price).
2. Weekly BTC Call options (deposit and bid in xBTC) use the 1-hour TWAP of OKX [**BTC/USD**](https://www.okx.com/trade-market/expiry/option) index for settlement.

# Perps

Major markets are using Pyth Price Feeds. However, to ensure the stability of trading altcoins such as the $TYPUS perpetual market, we’ve implemented an advanced price guard mechanism: **Price Keeper**. It utilizes a multi-dimensional algorithmic framework to calculate the **Index Price**. This system is specifically engineered to resist price manipulation and ensure fairness during liquidations.

Core Technical Framework:

1. **Logarithmic Weighting**
   - By applying a logarithmic scale, the system balances the influence of large and small trades. This prevents abnormally large whale trades from disproportionately dominating the price distribution and skewing the Index Price.
2. **Exponential Decay**
   - A half-life parameter is used to control the influence of historical data over time. Old weights automatically decay as new data points are added to the system.
   - Through the time decay function, the system can calculate the precise aggregate weight for any given timestamp, ensuring the price reflects the most current market sentiment.
3. **Volatility Filtering**
   - Price movements are limited based on the asset's Annualized Volatility.
   - The system automatically filters out "flash crash" events or erroneous price quotes caused by oracle delays, and ensures that liquidations are triggered only by genuine market moves, not by temporary technical glitches or scam wicks.
4. **Smart Data Cleaning**
   - When the data pool exceeds its designated **Soft Cap**, the system automatically purges low-weight data. This keeps the calculation engine lean and focused on the most relevant, recent market data.
5. **Unified Percentile Algorithm**
   - The Bid, Ask, and Index prices are all derived from the same mathematical distribution logic.
   - The algorithm strictly enforces the pricing chain of **Bid ≤ Index ≤ Ask**. This eliminates arbitrage opportunities and provides a transparent, predictable pricing structure for traders.

There' are two major players on Typus:

🤑 [**Vault Depositor (Option Seller)**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller): **Yield Seeker**

😏 [**Vault Bidder (Option Buyer)**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-bidder-option-buyer): **Speculator and Hedger**

[title] Vault Settlement
[path] Architecture/

On the expiration date of a vault, it will be settled. Typus Options are cash-settled. Call options are settled in tokens (such as $SUI) while put options are generally settled in stablecoins (such as $USDC).

The profit and loss of [**Vault Depositors (Option Sellers)**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller) will be calculated by the [**Strike Price**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/strikeprice.asp) and [**Settlement Price**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/settlementprice.asp). `Performance Fee` will be re-calculated and auto-balanced in `Reward (Premium)` based on the real payoff of Vault Depositors (Option Sellers).

`Example`

In the first example we used in [**Option Seller**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller) and [**Option Buyer**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-bidder-option-buyer), when the SUI call option is exercised, the call option buyer will receive SUI tokens that were collateralized by the call option seller.

In the second example, when the SUI put option is exercised, the put option buyer will receive USDC tokens that were collateralized by the put option seller.

# [**Typescript SDK**](https://github.com/Typus-Lab/typus-sdk)

## Install

:::BlockQuote
npm i
:::

## For Frontend

- The payload to call is in utils/ , and file name is get...Tx.ts (EX\:getClaimTx.ts). It will return a tx.
- In scripts/ , the simple example file name to send variable into payload is get...Tx.ts (EX\:getClaimTx.ts).
- Frontend can refer to scripts/ to call utils/ tx and send it.

## For integration testing

### simple test for important function

:::BlockQuote
npx ts-node scripts/sui.ts
:::

### mint customized token

- get package object id and one of asset registry (for example\:BTC) from sui-dev-token, and use the registry mint 10001 token:

:::BlockQuote
sui client call --gas-budget 10000 --package $PACKAGE --module "token\_btc" --function "mint" --args $REGISTRY 10001
:::

you will get different object with balance every time after mint, and all of them created by a same registry.

- or run test to mint customized token:

:::BlockQuote
npx ts-node test/testMint.ts
:::

### deposit token to shark\_fin vault

- token example: tokenA, which is created by "mint customized token" step, and the **type argument **is *0x27b3674c685046f66cad1d5496d2967894fa5329::token::USDC*, which can be found with tokenA object id from explorer

steps to deposit token:

- step0: insure PACKAGE and VAULT\_REGISTRY are correct. (generate from shark\_fin package)
- step1: check shark\_fin registry vault num (EX:1)
- step2: create new vault(vaultA) with tokenA

:::BlockQuote
sui client call --gas-budget 1000 --package $PACKAGE --module "shark\_fin" --function "new\_shark\_fin\_vault" --type-args 0x27b3674c685046f66cad1d5496d2967894fa5329::token::USDC --args $VAULT\_REGISTRY 1671344789 true 1 10
:::

- step3: check shark\_fin registry vault num. In this example, should be 2
- step4: deposit tokenA to vaultA in this deposit example, deposit 9999 tokenA to vaultA:

:::BlockQuote
sui client call --gas-budget 1000 --package $PACKAGE --module "shark\_fin" --function "deposit" --type-args 0x27b3674c685046f66cad1d5496d2967894fa5329::token::USDC --args $VAULT\_REGISTRY 1 true $TOKENAID 9999
:::

note: "1" in script is vault index

- or run test to deposit token:

:::BlockQuote
npx ts-node test/testDeposit.ts
:::

[title] DOV Bidder Guide
[path] Guides/

Let’s bid in the auction and grab some options at a decent price!

1. [**Get Your Wallet & SUI Token Ready**](https://docs.typus.finance/bidder-guide#zWg3P)
2. [**Place Bids**](https://docs.typus.finance/bidder-guide#zWg3P)

# Get Your Wallet & SUI Token Ready

1. Get your wallet on SUI blockchain ready ([**Stashed**](https://getstashed.com/auth) and [**SUI Wallet**](https://suiwallet.com/) are highly recommended).
2. Make sure you have enough SUI balance in your wallet (at least 1 SUI) for a smooth bidding and gas fee cost.
3. If you are all set well, directly head to the [**Bid Options Page**](https://typus.finance/bid/) and connect your wallet.

![](https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/S1PY0_uPlkpzjWG3DrHGL_image.png)

# Place Bids

1. Select your market view and preferred auctions under the [**Bidder Guide**](https://typus.finance/bid/). As an example, I am bullish and I think the price of SUI will go UP next HOUR. Let's "**Enter**" the Hourly SUI Capped Call (bid in SUI) auction now!

![](https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/jGaUa61WiVFFVZ1F5_fme_image.png)

This is where you can place bids to win big.

- In this case, you input 100 in the `Bid Size` column and click `Bid` to send a transaction. It means that you are about to long 100 SUI with 0.5714 SUI. View settlement examples [**here**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-bidder-option-buyer).

![](https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/npCPL2d4lNwKl1e1fZXUV_image.png)

- The bid price is gradually decreasing from the initial price to the final price in [**Modified Dutch Auction**](https://docs.typus.finance/modified-dutch-auction). **Clearing Price** is determined by the final bid price that covers the full offer quantity. If it's not fully covered, it will be the lowest price at delivery, and you will receive **Rebates** from `My Rebate` section at the [**Portfolio Page**](https://typus.finance/portfolio/).

![](https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/aUtU0i5UsJAjW_KDjR64v_image.png)

- The options position will be shown on `Bid` section at the [**Portfolio Page**](https://typus.finance/portfolio/) as well. Please note that the options you bid on will not be settled until the expiry date.

# Covered Call Seller

A [**Covered Call**](https://docs.typus.finance/defi-options-vaults#18lfj) vault depositor is a covered call seller. The seller deposits the underlying assets (such as $SUI) as collateral to sell the call option and receives rewards (premium) either in underlying tokens (such as $SUI) or stablecoins (such as $USDC) after an auction ends.

If the buyer decides to execute the contract as the call option expires, the underlying asset deposited by the seller will be transferred to the buyer, that is, **cash-settled in tokens**.

`Example`

You deposit 1 SUI to sell 1 SUI call option.

- Duration: 7 days
- Current market price: 1 SUI = 10 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 15 USDC
- Contract Size: 1 SUI Call Option
- Reward: You get 0.0625 SUI before vault settlement

`Case 1: When Settle Price ≦ Strike Price, you gain`

If the price of SUI stays below 15 USDC when the call expires, the buyer will not execute the call.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI ≦ 15 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 15 USDC **-> not executed by the buyer**
- Vault Settlement: You don’t need to transfer SUI to the buyer
- Net PNL in SUI:
  - You get 0.0625 SUI
  - The buyer loses 0.0625 SUI

`Case 2: When Settle Price > Strike Price, you may lose`

If the price of SUI rises **slightly **to 16 USDC when the call expires, the buyer has the right to execute the call. At this time, the buyer gets 0.0625 SUI token from you. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 16 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 15 USDC **-> executed by the buyer**
- Vault Settlement: The buyer gets \[ (16 - 15) / 16 ] = 0.0625 SUI from you
- Net PNL in SUI:
  - You are breakeven ( 0.0625 SUI - 0.0625 SUI = 0 SUI )
  - The buyer is breakeven too

If the price of SUI rises **strongly **to 20 USDC when the call expires, the buyer has the right to execute the call. At this time, the buyer gets 0.25 SUI token from you. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 20 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 15 USDC **-> executed by the buyer**
- Vault Settlement: The buyer gets \[ (20 - 15) / 20 ] = 0.25 SUI from you
- Net PNL in SUI:
  - You lose 0.1875 SUI ( 0.0625 SUI - 0.25 SU = -0.1875 SUI )
  - The buyer gets 0.1875 SUI

A [**Call Selling**](https://docs.typus.finance/defi-options-vaults#fGueI) vault depositor is a call seller. The seller deposits stablecoins (such as $USDC) as collateral to sell the call option and receives rewards (premium) in stablecoins (such as $USDC) after an auction ends.

If the buyer decides to execute the contract as the call option expires, the stablecoins deposited by the seller will be transferred to the buyer, that is, **cash-settled in stablecoins.**

`Example`

You deposit 10 USDC to sell 1 SUI call option.

- Duration: 7 days
- Current market price: 1 SUI = 10 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 12 USDC
- Contract Size: 1 SUI Call Option
- Reward: You get 1 USDC before vault settlement

`Case 1: When Settle Price ≦ Strike Price, you gain`

If the price of SUI stays below 12 USDC when the call expires, the buyer will not execute the call.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI ≦ 12 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 12 USDC **-> not executed by the buyer**
- Vault Settlement: You don’t need to transfer USDC to the buyer
- Net PNL in USDC:
  - You get 1 USDC
  - The buyer loses 1 USDC

`Case 2: When Settle Price > Strike Price, you may lose`

If the price of SUI rises **slightly **to 13 USDC when the call expires, the buyer has the right to execute the call. At this time, the buyer gets 1 USDC from you. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 13 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 12 USDC **-> executed by the buyer**
- Vault Settlement: The buyer gets ( 13 - 12 ) = 1 USDC from you
- Net PNL in USDC:
  - You are breakeven ( $1 - $1 = $0 )
  - The buyer is breakeven too

If the price of SUI rises **strongly **to 15 USDC when the call expires, the buyer has the right to execute the call. At this time, the buyer gets 3 USDC from you. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 15 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 12 USDC **-> executed by the buyer**
- Vault Settlement: The buyer gets ( 15 - 12 ) = 3 USDC from you

# Put Seller

A [**Put Selling **](https://docs.typus.finance/defi-options-vaults#xdS35)vault depositor is a put seller. The seller deposits stablecoins (such as $USDC) as collateral to sell the put option and receives rewards (premium) either in underlying tokens (such as $SUI) or stablecoins (such as $USDC) after an auction ends.

If the buyer decides to execute the contract as the put option expires, the stablecoins deposited by the seller will be transferred to the buyer, that is, **cash-settled in stablecoins.**

`Example`

You deposit 10 USDC to sell 1 SUI put option.

- Duration: 7 days
- Current market price: 1 SUI = 10 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 8 USDC
- Contract Size: 1 SUI Put Option
- Reward: You get 1 USDC before vault settlement

`Case 1: When Settle Price ≧ Strike Price, you gain`

- Vault Settlement: You don’t need to transfer USDC to the buyer
- Net PNL in USDC:
  - You get 1 USDC
  - The buyer loses 1 USDC

`Case 2: When Settle Price < Strike Price, you may lose`

If the price of SUI decreases **slightly **to 7 USDC when the put expires, the buyer has the right to execute the put. At this time, the buyer gets 1 USDC from you. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 7 USDC
- Strike price: 1 SUI = 8 USDC **-> executed by the buyer**

# Call Spread Seller

A [**Call Spread**](https://docs.typus.finance/defi-options-vaults#k3Ka_) vault depositor is a call spread seller. The seller deposits the underlying assets (such as $SUI) as collateral to sell the call spread option and receives rewards (premium) either in underlying tokens (such as $SUI) or stablecoins (such as $USDC) after an auction ends.

- **Vault Depositors** are selling a call at a lower strike price, and buying another call at a higher strike price, while
- **Vault Bidders** are buying a call at a lower strike price, and selling another call at a higher strike price.

If call buyers decide to execute the contract as the call expires, the underlying asset deposited by the seller will be transferred to the buyer, that is, **cash-settled in tokens**.

`Example`

You deposit 1 SUI to sell 1 SUI call spread option.

- Duration: 7 days
- Current market price: 1 SUI = 10 USDC
- Strike price A: 1 SUI = 13 USDC
- Strike price B: 1 SUI = 15 USDC
- Contract Size: 1 SUI Call Spread Option
- Reward: You get 0.07 SUI before vault settlement

`Case 1: When Settle Price ≦ Strike Price A, you gain`

If the price of SUI stays below 13 USDC when the call spread expires, the buyer will not execute the call at Strike price A and B.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI ≦ 13 USDC
- Strike price A: 1 SUI = 13 USDC **-> not executed by the buyer**
- Strike price B: 1 SUI = 15 USDC **-> not executed by you**
- Vault Settlement: You don’t need to transfer SUI to the buyer
- Net PNL in SUI:
  - You get 0.07 SUI
  - The buyer loses 0.07 SUI

`Case 2: When Strike price A < Settle Price < Strike price B, you may lose`

If the price of SUI rises **slightly **to 14 USDC when the call spread expires, the buyer has the right to execute the call at Strike price A. At this time, the buyer gets 0.07 SUI token from you. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 14 USDC
- Strike price A: 1 SUI = 13 USDC **-> executed by the buyer**
- Strike price B: 1 SUI = 15 USDC **-> not executed by you**
- Vault Settlement: The buyer gets \[ (14 - 13) / 14 ] = 0.07 SUI from you
- Net PNL in SUI:
  - You are breakeven ( 0.07 SUI - 0.07 SUI = 0 SUI )
  - The buyer is breakeven too

`Case 3: When Settle Price ≧ Strike price B, you lose`

If the price of SUI rises **strongly **to 20 USDC when the call spread expires, the buyer has the right to execute the call at Strike price A, and you has the right to execute the call at Strike price B. At this time, the buyer gets 0.10 SUI token from you. The amount is equal to the difference between the market price and the strike price at expiry.

- Market price at expiry: 1 SUI = 20 USDC
- Strike price A: 1 SUI = 13 USDC **-> executed by the buyer**
- Strike price B: 1 SUI = 15 USDC **-> executed by you**
- Vault Settlement: The buyer gets \[ (20 - 13) / 20 ] - \[ (20 - 15) / 20 ] = 0.35 - 0.25 = 0.10 SUI from you
- Net PNL in SUI:

[title] Auction Delivery
[path] Architecture/

When an auction ends, [**Option Premium**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/option-premium.asp) (Depositors Reward) will be delivered to [**Vault Depositors (Option Sellers)**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-depositor-option-seller) and [**Option Contracts**](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/optionscontract.asp) will be delivered to [**Vault Bidders (Option Buyers)**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-bidder-option-buyer).

Before the expiration date of the option strategy ([**Vault Settlement**](https://docs.typus.finance/vault-settlement)), Vault Depositors (Option Sellers) are able to harvest or compound their rewards anytime. Reward (Premium) is determined by the vaulter and can be delivered in either $SUI or $USDC. If it is settled in the same token as your deposits, users can compound earnings into the vault.

::Image[]{src="https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/GgtTMD6l2BRwPLGvhGFkH_image.png" size="50" width="866" height="1160" position="center"}

In the future, Vault Bidders (Option Buyers) will be able to trade their vaults under** Typus RFQ Network**, which is a secondary marketplace for Typus Vaults.

Please note that:

- It does not guarantee that all deposited amounts will get delivered, as the auction amount is limited and **all deposits will be filled on a proportional basis according to the actual filled percentage**.
- Some vaults will be filled at a certain **leverage** level. For instance, if a vault is under 25% leverage (0.25x leverage), it means that your maximum loss is 25% of your deposits.
- If your deposit is filled successfully, it will be in `Active Balance` during the `Lockup Period`. Otherwise, your deposit will stay in `Warmup Balance` and you can withdraw it anytime.
- `Performance Fee` will be pre-locked for 10% of the reward (premium). Vault Depositors (Option Sellers) can check their `Reward (Premium)` balance after vault settlement for possible fee refunds.

# Get Your Wallet & SUI Token Ready

1. Get your wallet on SUI blockchain ready ([**Stashed**](https://getstashed.com/auth) and [**SUI Wallet**](https://suiwallet.com/) are highly recommended).
2. Make sure you have enough SUI balance in your wallet (at least 1 SUI) to cover gas fee.
3. If you are all set well, directly head to the [**Typus Yield Page**](https://typus.finance/yield/) and connect your wallet. Scrolling down, you will find all available vaults here.

![](https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/mLGJYk-1RurmRLtInw2y__image.png)

# Deposit and Withdraw

Let’s use a houly SUI covered call as an example. Click the vault card, enter the deposit amount 10 SUI for instance and `Deposit`! ([**Check Min Deposit Size**](https://docs.typus.finance/min-deposit-and-bid-size))

No worries! You can `Withdraw` your assets with a [**0% Withdrawal Fee**](https://docs.typus.finance/fees) any time before the Lockup Period starts if you change your mind. You can find the withdraw button under the withdraw tab.

::Image[]{src="https://archbee-image-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/f0wpBLycD4SqdLxdQePJn/YgCpUhmQiCQNs1nUqeMpK_image.png" size="80" width="1764" height="1178" position="center"}

# Unsubscribe and Claim

Your deposit will be activated and locked once it has been filled in the auction and sadly you have decided not to proceed with the next round.

In this case, you can choose to `Unsubscribe` 3 SUI from the **Active Balance** and it will transit to the **Deactivating Balance**. At the same time, you will also be informed of the exact date for claim. Afterward check the claim detail under the `Claim` tab and click `Claim` button with a [**0% Claim Fee**](https://docs.typus.finance/fees). The unsubscribed assets will be credited to your wallet!

# Compound or Harvest Rewards

Congrats! If your deposit got rewarded during the activation period, you will get rewards (options premium and deposit incentives).

To see more details, go to the `Harvest` tab. Here you can:

1. `Compound`: Maximize your earnings by compounding your reward (premium) back to the vault every round!
2. `Harvest`: Harvest your premium immediately. Check your wallet balance after submitting the transaction!

Please note that Typus will charge [**10% of rewards**](https://docs.typus.finance/fees) as the management fee.
